What would be the best embedded HW platform for cool hack ?
this could be discussed for some times here.
But, let me, one more time talk about how nice are Arduino solutions as a building block way of creating your HW/SW hack.
To be completly honest, I only recently decided to look at it, and noticed the progress made compare to the ancient time .
we had to program eprom, mount it on PCB, erase it with UV and more create interface circuit and all protocols to simply upload code on microcontrolers ! (ok this was around 1990 for me)
Here, the device that I would like to present, is the following: Arduino nano v3 – atmega 328

Now, here is my application as example:
My goal was to be able to simulate pressed button by using relays controled by a script sending serial commands to arduino.
Well, this is perfect, the USB to serial module , beside allowing to program the arduino also allows to create simple serial communication
and to drive simply with serial port our arduino IO controler.

I could not believe it but it serms that this exactly the kind ok hack I was looking for. Expect me to try your software next week end, as I’m planning to customize my fishing pool in order to setup a remote alarm trigger. Keep you posted!
